In March, Dr. Eduardo Cotilla-Sanchez [NNMREC-affiliated faculty at OSU] presented the paper “Advanced Wave Energy Converter Array-To-Grid Transmission Systems” at the 2015 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT) in Sevllle, Spain. The wave energy session provided good guidelines for future collaborations between NNMREC and Politecnico di Milano.

Building upon the Pacific Marine Energy Center's South Energy Test Site (PMEC-SETS) grid integration work with OSU's School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science colleagues as well as collaborators at University College Cork, Dr. Cotilla-Sanchez presented a paper at the Marine Energy Technology Symposium (METS) in Washington, DC in April 2015. Part of this work has been accepted for publication in the IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Power Electronics under the title "Assessing the Impact of the Grid Connected Pacific Marine Energy Centre Wave Energy Farm”.

Bob PaaschFrom April 21 to May 1, Dr. Bob Paasch [NNMREC-affiliated faculty at OSU] traveled to Dublin, Ireland for the Plenary Meeting on the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards on marine energy, IEC TC114, helping NNMREC continue to be a leader in supporting the development of marine renewable energy standards. Past and current NNMREC affiliates associated with this work include Drs. Brian Polagye, Kelley Ruehl, Pukha Lenee-Blum, and Solomon Yim.
